The Bush Doctrine and Suicide Bombers
The spate of suicide bombers that have plagued Israel during March 2002 culminated into the Passover
Massacre where 27 people were slaughtered. There are those in America, certainly in Europe and most
assuredly in the Arab world that wish to draw moral equivalency between the self-defense measures employed
by Israel and the Hamas suicide brigades.
There is no moral equivalency between self-defense and outright terrorism.
Let’s get something straight right off the bat. The Israeli Government does not target civilians for wanton
and casual violence, as do the Palestinian suicide bombers. Israel does not pursue a policy that sends teenage
boys and girls laden with nail bombs into supermarkets, restaurants and buses so as to inflict maximum death
and mayhem.
Saudi Arabia has allocated $50,000,000 towards those Palestinians who have suffered losses during
the intifada, and Saddam Hussein (you remember him don’t you—egotistical madman who has used chemical
weapons against his own population, invaded Kuwait a few years back and sent SCUD missiles in Saudi
Arabia and Israel) pays $25,000 to the family of any suicide bomber.
Israel has responded to the Passover Massacre by sending its armed forces into the West Bank. They
have three clear objectives:
Hamas was formed in 1987 and has been running the suicide bomber terror campaign. They
fundamentally an offshoot of the Palestinian Liberation Organization which finds it roots in Arafat’s Fatah
organization. It is safe to say that Hamas operates either at the implicit or explicit orders of Yasser Arafat.
Hezbollah was formed in 1982 in response to the last time Israel had to actively protect its borders. It
was originally based in Lebanon. It was both funded and organized by our good buddies in Iran. You know the
guys running around in black sheets with the really tight turbans and bad attitudes. They are high on the suspect
list for the U.S. Embassy and Marine barracks bombings in 1983. That was when we lost 241 Marines (our
guys—the good guys for those you still confused).
Islamic Jihad has been called many things and they have reconstituted themselves over the years. Their
major claim to fame was the assassination of Anwar Sadat in 1981. We all remember Anwar from Jimmy
Carter’s crowning moment—the Camp David accords. However, these groups are not interested in peace with
Israel, they are only interested in Israel’s destruction.
Fatah has been around since the Six Day War in 1967. This little gem is what brought Yasser Arafat
from a thug and terrorist to Chairman Arafat and Bill Clinton’s most frequent guest (and he didn’t even have to
pay money to sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom). Fatah has spawned so many radical butchers over the years one
loses count. Suffice it to say Fatah is still in the terror business.
Which brings us to everyone’s favorite—Al Qaeda. These are the people who flew airliners into the
World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. They hijacked Afghanistan using the Taliban.
They have been active in a number of countries around the world, and they have links to Iran, Iraq and Fatah.
Connect the dots and we find the same cancer on the West Bank that America is fighting in Afghanistan.
The battle between America and Al Qaeda is truly a war between western civilization and militant Islamic
fundamentalism. The Bush Doctrine states, “You’re either with us or against us.”
Israel is fighting the same people and the same war that America has joined. Israel is with us. It is a pity
that we really cannot say the same for Europe or the Saudis (you remember WWII and Desert Storm when
America liberated countries from their oppressors). Some may question our motives, but none can question the
results. The United States in the post-war period has been the guarantor of peace and stability throughout the
world.
The West Bank suicide bombers and the mad pilots of September 11 are one in the same. It is time for
the American Government to support Israel in her fight for survival, because the Sharon clearly recognizes that
this is a death match someone needs to win soon.
