[Douglas De Bono / DouglasDeBono.Com] Islamic protesters torched the Danish, Swedish and Norwegian Embassies in Damascus on February fourth. On the same weekend, militants stormed the Danish Embassy in Beirut. They burned flags and stormed through the streets. Calls for severed hands and heads came from religious leaders.

All this rage is the result of a few editorial cartoons.

One depicts Mohammed with a burning bomb in his turban.

Another shows Mohammed telling ragged suicide bombers that he has run out of virgins as they arrive in paradise.

What do they expect?

These are the people strapping suicide dynamite belts to teenagers so that they can kill and maim Israelis. These are the people attempting to build a nuclear bomb so that they can mount it on a missile and launch it at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. These are the people who flew airliners into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. These are the people who chant “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”.

Editorial cartoons have offended me. It never occurred to me that I should set fire to the New York Times or call for the death of some misguided cartoonist. I know I have offended some people with my blog. That is an attribute of civilization.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld warned attendees of the Global Security Conference in Munich of “global extremist Islamic empire” on par with the Third Reich. He referred to a map that erases national borders and replaces those states with a global caliphate that spans all continents. He called on the western democracies to boost their defense budgets and to reconsider their immigration policies.

What is left unsaid, but implied is that we (the West) are in the fight for our lives. Rather than face this uncomfortable truth or dare cross into the shadow of political incorrectness, we dance around the problem that all of these insane actions and statements emanate from Islamic Mosques and Governments.

If we permit Iran to develop a nuclear bomb, they will use it on Israel, on Europe, and on America. This is the stated purpose of the Iranian government. The intention to nuke Israel has been repeated many times in the last three months. I take these people at their word.

Should they gain a majority either by birth rate or immigration, Islamic militants will use our precious democratic institutions to take over. They will not honor any vote that might go the other way. For example, consider the near state of war between Fatah and Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza.

As I said earlier, disagreement and political discourse is an attribute of civilization. Islam—the religion of peace—does not respect those liberties. Islam is only interested in robotic obedience.

Finally, am I happy with a Mideast War? No. Do I agree with the NSA spying program? No. Do I think the Patriot Act is good law? No. But I do not see an alternative right now, because there are people trying to kill us, and most of them bow to Allah on a daily basis.
